"New Work: 2019 - 2020"

After completing my last project “Conversations with the Past”, a portfolio of 50 images that focused on the male nude with a 19th century aesthetic and used the cyanotype process, I decide to align with what interested me the most in photographing mostly gay men, minorities and immigrants. I utilize a 16”x20” view camera using a close up lens and shoot with film. I then cut the negative into 4, 9 or 16 sections and scan each section. A digital negative is used to print using the 19th century cyanotype process on 17”x22” cotton rag paper. The images are evocative of mug shots and are confrontational due to the size. The final images are 32”x40”, 48"x60" and 64”x80”.
